About Me
Hello! My name is Kat, I’m a Russian-born Wisconsin-based photographer seeking to capture the identities, expressions, and auras of destinations, personalities, and memories.
Occupationally I am a full time chef with the UW, a photographer, and an artist. I am also a part time ski lift operator for Tyrol Basin and cave diver with the Wisconsin Speleological Society.
In my free time, I’m an avid outdoorswoman. I love to travel, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, mountaineer, ski, boulder, top rope, lead climb, mountain bike, cave dive, scuba dive, snow shoe, horse back ride, play sand volleyball, thru-hike and forage with the Wisconsin Mycological society. I am currently pursuing an SPI certification.
In addition, I’m also an avid foodie and chef. I am currently traveling the world (and library) for food industry education and experiences. I hope to gain invaluable knowledge and cultivate a diverse skillset during my adventures. I feel as though we can learn so much from food and I love to define my culinary philosophy as, “you are what you eat”; because food always tells a story! I am also currently pursuing a sommelier certification.
Ultimately though I’m a creative. Between culinary arts, creative writing, painting, and photography I always have a new fun project in the works. I’m currently learning how to quilt! One day I hope to pursue the publication of one of my many culinary or travel books. For now… a blog!
Fun facts:
My family owns and operates Sunniva Inn Bed & Breakfast and Schoop’s Second chance antiques and I am their social media manager.
I am a cat and dog mom, I think this really improves my abilities as a pet portrait photographer because I get lots of practice with my fur babies!
I am a signed model with MTM agency which grants me important perspective as a photographer. I’ve been in your shoes... I mean heels!
I have been to 9 countries, 45 states and 40+ National parks.
